Toronto Raptors win first NBA Finals in team history

The Toronto Raptors won the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. While star forward Kawhi Leonard was relatively quiet, guard Fred VanVleet led the way scoring over twenty-points. Despite being back to back champs, Golden State was not able to repeat in their last game at Oracle Arena in Oakland before their planned move across the bay to San Francisco. The trades for forward Kawhi Leonard and center Marc Gasol led them to win an NBA champions. Guard Kyle Lowry went through a ton with the Raptors (losing to LeBron’s teams multiple times) to finally break through and win a Larry O’Brien trophy. Forward Pascal Siakam and Center Marc Gasol were key in this series for defending big men DeMarcus Cousins and Draymond Green. Bench guards Norman Powell and the aforementioned VanVleet did an exceptional job defending Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson when Kyle Lowry was on the bench. Overall, it was a great performance in the series by the Toronto Raptors.
