Here is my first NFL Divisional Preview (AFC East).
Team on the Rise
New York Jets
The only way to go is up after a 4-12 season. New York adds former All-Pro tailback Le’Veon Bell and Linebacker CJ Moseley to a big group of youngsters headlined by second year QB Sam Darnold. The Jets should be New England’s biggest competitor in 2019, as Bell looks to add more talent to the team next summer.
Team on the Decline
Miami Dolphins
Miami was the only team to beat New England last season but ironically, Brian Flores (formerly of the Patriots), comes in and looks to use QB duo Josh Rosen and Ryan Fitzpatrick to the best of the ability. Again, the only way to go is up in South Beach.
Rookie to Watch
Quinnen Williams,DT,New York Jets
Williams was very productive in Nick Saban’s defense at Alabama so why can’t he be at the next level for Adam Gase’s d? Williams is an excellent pass rusher that will help New York challenge New England for an AFC East title.
Player to Watch
Julian Edelman,WR,New England Patriots
2019’s Super Bowl MVP will return as Tom Brady’s top target but he’ll have some help even after All-Pro Tight End Rob Gronkowski retired. New England drafted Arizona State standout N’Keal Harry to pair with Edelman in the receiver room so watch out for this New England receiving core in 2019.
Projected Standings
1.New England Patriots 11-5
2.New York Jets 8-8
3.Buffalo Bills 8-8
4.Miami Dolphins 4-12
