Superstar Forward Kawhi Leonard, star Guard DeMar DeRozan swap teams

Superstar Forward Kawhi Leonard has been traded to the Toronto Raptors for star Guard DeMar DeRozan. Here’s the whole trade package:

Spurs Receive
Guard DeMar DeRozan
Center Jakob Poeltl
Protected 2019 First Pick

Raptors Receive
Forward Kawhi Leonard
Guard Danny Green

Initial Thoughts
The Spurs got lucky and did not get desperate, landing a top twenty player in the NBA in DeMar DeRozan,a developing center in Jakob Poeltl, and a first round pick.Kawhi Leonard is a free agent next summer, and we should see how he reacts to this because he could go elsewhere.Danny Green is a nice shooting guard who is a nice three point shooter.

Who are the Raptors receiving?
A top five player in the league, but he could leave instead of re-signing.Danny Green is a guy who could come off the bench because OG Annunoby is too valuable of a piece. The Raptors are now the second best team in the east officially behind the Celtics.

Who are the Spurs receiving?
DeMar DeRozan has three more years on his contract.DeRozan will have to face LeBron again in the playoffs again if they make it they make it that far.Poeltl is a nice developing piece, who it will be hard for the Raptors to replace.

I think that San Antonio may win this trade long-term but even if Kawhi left for LA next summer they would be in a nice retooling mode without DeMar DeRozan’s three year eight-three million dollar deal.

Inside the NBA’s closest Rookie of the Year going into the season in awhile

Luka Doncic-Guard-Dallas Mavericks-Doncic is probably the best overall prospect in the draft, and I would not be surprised if he puts up fourteen points and eight assists.Doncic is a versatile perimeter player with the ability to play the point guard, shooting guard, and small forward which is good due to the likes of guards Dennis Smith Jr. and Yogi Ferrell, and forward Harrison Barnes.Doncic could definitley win the ROTY if he scores more than fifteen points and more than nine assists and makes a good impact in the Mavs’ record.

DeAndre Ayton-Center-Phoenix Suns-Ayton did everything expected in summer league nothing less.Ayton was dominant in college at Arizona as a guy who could average seventeen points and twelve rebounds per game in the NBA.Ayton should develop a jumper and is a willing defender.Ayton along with Devin Booker,Josh Jackson, and the rest of the crew should get the Suns back to at least mediocrity.DeAndre should be a good piece in his home state and fit in with the rest of the young Suns well.

Marvin Bagley-Power Forward-Sacramento Kings-Bagley is a threat from anywhere on the floor including the three pointer as a versatile big man.Bagley and point guard De’Aaron Fox are likely to be the nice young duo in Sac-town for years to come.Bagley may have a hard time adjusting to playing decent defense in the NBA.If he’s a guy who can put up seventeen, twelve, and a block Bagley could possibly go home with some hardware next June.Bagley could explode and be a rookie star but Bagley will have to work to be the winner come next June.

Collin Sexton-Point Guard-Cleveland Cavaliers
Collin Sexton did very well in the summer league, and should be the next one up in Cleveland due to LeBron’s move to LA.Sexton needs to develop a jumper (the only glaring weakness between these four players) but is a great scorer and should defend pretty well come the regular season.Sexton may be overshadowed by Kevin Love but if he and Love lead the Cavs to sneak in the playoffs,Sexton has a good shot at winning the hardware.Sexton should be a guy who puts up fifteen to eighteen points, five assists, and a couple steals.

Where is the only uncommited player in the 2018 ESPN 100?

Darius Bazley, the number thirteen ranked player in the country by ESPN did not make a commitment but is instead is being the first player to forgo college and play in the NBA’s g-league since 2009.At first Darius’ plan was to go the normal route, but changed his mind.Bazley decommited from Ohio State a year ago and signed with Syracuse but then reconsiderd his options after the McDonald’s All-American game.Bazley will be entering the development league draft.

Stars of the Future (Basketball) 2018:Nassir Little (North Carolina signee) (Is he taking MICHAEL’S number?)

Y’all probably thought I was doing Bol Bol next because he was next in the rankings but today we take a look at the sixth ranked player in the country, small forward/shooting guard Nassir Little.

Story:Roy Williams said that it would take awhile before he would offer the five-star.Just a weekend later after a camp that Nassir starred in,Nassir was offered by North Carolina. One of the main reasons Little wants to go to UNC is because he and Roy Williams are winners.Nassir made a commitment to UNC and moved up from number ten in the rankings all the way up to number six.

Scouting Report:Little is exceptionally long with a seven-foot one wing span and is a good sized wing at six-seven.Little is a great athlete with a developing jumper, something so precious in the modern NBA.His defense is very good and should translate over to the next level nicely. He is very tough physically. He needs to work on being mentally tough along with his twenty-six percent three pointer and sixty-nine percent from the free throw line.Overall,Nassir Little is a great athlete and should be a top five pick in the NBA Draft by the summer of 2019 or 2020.

Can the Denver Nuggets turn Isaiah Thomas’ career around?

Hello guys, and welcome to another unofficial series on the blog.If I continue to do this on a daily basis this will become the NBA previews series but today I want to take a look at the Denver Nuggets headed into the 2018-19 NBA season and if they can turn Isaiah Thomas’ career around.

With Paul Millsap being the best defender on this team but aging,Gary Harris at the shooting guard and Nikola Jokic at center are the second and third best defenders on the team but are still below average in that area.Jamal Murray,Will Barton,Isaiah Thomas, and the rest of the Mile High crew are way below average defenders. This team may be the best offensive team in the whole NBA but the worst defensive team.Isaiah Thomas probably won’t start but at least Denver has a good backup point guard. They are likely to start Jamal Murray at the point guard,Gary Harris at shooting guard,Will Barton at the small forward,Paul Millsap at power forward, and Nikola Jokic at center.Ovbiously,at this point Jokic is best player on this team and his advanced stats are just absolutley crazy.Jokic is a triple double threat every game but that is not all-star caliber play in the loaded western conference.Paul Millsap is still a good scorer and a good defender as I mentioned previously but is getting up there in age.It should be obvious that Isaiah Thomas should get at least twenty-five minutes per game and then play more if he’s playing well.Isaiah is a guy who should average around fifteen points and seven assists and get at least ten million dollars a year in the summer of 2019.Jamal Murray,Gary Harris, and Will Barton are guys who should be constistent on the outside for Denver. If Denver can lift Isaiah’s career back up to where it was in 2016-17,there’s no reason why the King of the 4th Quarter will be back.

From homeless to NBA Star:The Jimmy Butler Story

Early Life
“I don’t like the look of you.” “You better go.”, was the last thing Jimmy Butler rememebered his mom saying to him.Jimmy Butler at the age of thirteen was kicked out of the house with no family to take him in,no money, and no food,He had nothing.Jimmy did everything he could to stay alive, and would stay at friends house for weeks, and then he’d move on.It was devastating, very devastating, until Jimmy found basketball to save his life.

Basketball Gives Jimmy a New Opportunity
When Jimmy’s Senior season arrived,Jimmy’s recruitment started to pick up.No big time schools, but none of the top schools were after him.As it turned out,he met a Freshman, named Jordan Leslie, from the same city he was from,Tomball,Texas. After a Summer League game Jimmy challenged him to a three point contest. After that, the two became great friends as Jimmy became a regular at the Leslie household.Michelle Lambert,Leslie’s mom, who was unsure of the situation because she already had four kids, and money was tight.Jimmy was considered trouble, but that was only because he didn’t have money,or food,or any place to stay. The family agreed to let him stay, but it was only for one and two nights at time, and each kid got excited when it was Jimmy’s night to stay with them. The family, eventually, agreed to keep him full time.

A New Family
The family began to accept Jimmy as one of their own.He was expierencing what I real high school teenager should go through.Jimmy’s new mom, though, expected Jimmy to be a role model saying:I told him my kids look up to him.He had to stay out of trouble. Work hard in school. Set an example. And you know what?Jimmy did it.Anything I asked him to do he did it without asking questions.” Jimmy went on to have an amazing Senior season averaging 19.9 points per game, and 8.7 rebounds per game. Here’s what Jimmy had to say about his new family, and his mom in particular:“They accepted me into their family, and it wasn’t because of basketball. She was just very loving. She just did stuff like that. I couldn’t believe it.”

Jimmy’s feel good story was falling short
Despite his amazing Senior season,he didn’t gain any interest from Division One schools other than Mississippi State. He wasn’t on any scouts radar’s mainly because he didn’t play AAU ball. This didn’t get to him,as he enrolled at Tyler Junior College just down the road.He scored 34 points in his first conference game, and scored thirty and forty points some games during the season.

His fantastic season earned him honorable mention JUCO All-American and coaches all around the country began to take notice. The fantastic play gained offers from Kentucky, Clemson, Mississippi State, and Iowa State.

Jimmy now had a mom to go to for guidance and help him with this tough decision. Michelle played a key role in his decision to attend Marquette.

Here’s what Jimmy’s mom had to say about Marquette:“He had a lot of offer, but I was impressed by Marquette for academic reasons. That’s a great academic school. I told him he should go there because basketball may not work out long-term.He needed a good education and a degree to fall back on.”

With his mother’s guidance and help, Butler decided to opt for Marquette, but things got off to a rough start. Butler was accustomed to being the main guy, and a leader, but this was not the case at Marquette.

During his sophomore season, he was relegated to a role in which he found himself coming off the bench. This didn’t sit well with him. Often times, Jimmy wanted to leave and go home. Buzz Williams had this to say on Jimmy.

“I’ve never been harder on a player than I’ve been on Jimmy. I was ruthless on him because he didn’t know how good he could be. He’d been told his whole life he wasn’t good enough. What I was seeing was a guy who could impact our team in so many ways.

Jimmy averaged just 5.6 points in only 19.6 minutes of play that season for Marquette. He did not let that break him down as he continued to thrive and never give up, because that’s what he was accustomed to doing.

By the time Jimmy’s senior season came he was a solid contributor to the Golden Eagles averaging 15.7 points. He could rebound, handle the rock, pass, and play defense. His game resembled his personality off the court.

The 2011 NBA Draft came and Jimmy Butler was made the 30th pick overall by the Chicago Bulls. His hard work had finally paid off. He’s now considered a fantastic player in the NBA and there are no signs of him slowing down.

Butler went from homeless to NBA star in a matter of years. When asked about his childhood during the NBA Draft process he had this to say:

“Please, I know you’re going to write something. I’m just Asking you, don’t write it in a way that makes people feel sorry for me. I hate that. There’s nothing to feel sorry about it. I love what happened to me. It made me who I am. I’m grateful for the challenges I’ve faced. Please, don’t make them feel sorry for me.”

“It’s taught me that anything is possible, my whole life, people have doubted me. My Mom did. people told me in high school I’m too short and not fast enough to play basketball. They didn’t know my story. Because if they did, they’d know that anything is possible. Who would’ve thought that a small-town kid would become a halfway decent player in college and now has a chance to be drafted in the NBA? That’s my chip. That’s what motivates me. I know I Can overcome anything if I just take everything one day at a time.”

Jimmy Butler’s story is amazing. He’s now a 6’7 superstar in the NBA.He was traded from the Bulls, the team that drafted him,to the Minnesota Timberwolves.Jimmy starts a new chapter in his life.If he takes it a day at a time I know he can do it.Check out the article where I got my information at

IWSTBBACS Rank:Ranking the top ten college football QBs going into the 2018-19 season (Link to podcast about this:

Here are my top ten quarterbacks in college football going into the 2018-19 season.

10.McKenzie Milton,Jr. UCF
Milton led UCF to an undefeated season in 2017,this shouldn’t surprise you.

9.Trace McSorley,Sr. Penn State
McSorley has always been in the shadow of star Running Back Saquon Barkley, but now that he is gone,it is McSorley’s opportunity to shine.

8.Justin Herbert,Jr. Oregon
Herbert is a mobile quarterback with potential to be the number one pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

7.Tua Tagovailoa,Soph. Alabama
From leading Alabama to a national championship in overtime against Georgia to his amazing passing and running ability,Tua is Nick Saban’s next great quarterback.

6.Jarrett Stidham,Sr. Auburn
The JUCO transfer brought great skills in his first year at Auburn and is looking to do the same as he heads into his senior season.

5.Jake Browning,Sr. Washington
Can Jake Browning lead Washington to the Playoff again? We will see with one of the most efficent quarterbacks in the country.

4.Jake Fromm,Soph. Georgia
Fromm has some competion with incoming five-star QB and number one ranked recruit Justin Fields but Fromm is a winner and will continue to do so in 2018-19.

3.Drew Lock,Sr. Missouri
Lock may be the best passer in the country and he does at such an efficient rate in the SEC.

2.Khalil Tate,Jr. Arizona
Tate lit up the Pac-12 with his dual-threat skills but Tate definitley has some underrated passing skills.

1.Will Grier,Sr. West Virginia
Grier is a guy who can stand in the pocket until the last second and make every pass imaginable. An injury cut his season short but he is likely to be back to full strength in 2018.

Where does Carmelo Anthony fit best?

Where does Forward Carmelo Anthony fit best? The Oklahoma City Thunder and the veteran All-Star Forward are set to part ways most likely through buyout. Here are three teams in his sweepstakes and here’s how Melo fits with them.

*I know the Miami Heat could land him but it seems like they are out of his sweepstakes.*

Houston Rockets-The reigning NBA Western Conference runners up seem like the most likely team to land Anthony because of the losses of three and d wings Trevor Ariza to the Phoenix Suns and Luc Mbah a Moute to the LA Clippers, and Carmelo wants a starting spot. Two problems here.Carmelo is not a very reliable defender and will have to be relied on a lot in a Rockets offense to get them to win. While Houston does need a Small Forward Carmelo has been a very reliable Power Forward spreading the floor.Fit Rank:3

LA Lakers-LeBron James’ friend is Carmelo Anthony.Only problem is Brandom Ingram is starting in front of Melo.If LeBron convinces Carmelo Anthony to come off the bench which I don’t see happening,Carmelo is not coming to Hollywood.Fit Rank:2

Philadelphia 76ers-This is where Carmelo will have an opportunity.Carmelo will not have a huge role but could start if he gets a chance in Philly, which he should.I think Carmelo Anthony fits best in Philadelphia because he can spread the floor for Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz. While he may not go to Philadelphia because it may be too hard for Dario Saric not to start for Philly,he would be an awesome fit in one the of the US’s first city.Fit Rank:1 (Winner)

The Thunder are exploring a deal with the Brookly Nets for Jeremy Lin but I don’t expect that happen because Melo is not staying in Brooklyn.

Stars of the Future (Basketball) 2018:Cam Reddish (Duke Signee)

The third installment of the “Stars of the Future (Basketball) 2018” is yet another Duke signee.Coach K and the co. brought in the top three recruits (Barrett,Williamson,Reddish)

Story:Unlike Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett,Cam Reddish says that he’s a combo guard.Reddish is called a Shooting Guard or a Small Forward on various recruiting bases like ESPN,247 Sports, and Scout.Reddish chose to attend Westtown Boarding School in Pennsylvania.Cameron’s first year (his Sophomore year) was a struggle.Basketball was okay and he had bad grades. At peach jam, though,he had a great tournament ending on a good note as a Sophomore. On April 23,2016,Cam Reddish got his scholarship offer to Duke.

Scouting Report:The true shooting guard has excellent size at 6’7,203 and a seven foot one wingspan. He posses combo guard skills and has great athleticsm.Reddish will fit well next to Point Guard Tre Jones,Small Forward R.J. Barrett and Power Forward Zion Williamson at Duke. The only bad thing in his game is overdribbling, especially east and west but other than that he has breat basketball IQ and should fit well in Durham.

NBA Free Agency:The San Antonio Spurs will not match the offer sheet for Kyle Anderson (Day 8 News)

Center Brook Lopez agrees to a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks worth three point four million dollars.

Former Golden State Warriors Center Zaza Pachulia is headed to the Detroit Pistons on a one-year deal worth two point four million dollars.

The San Antonio Spurs have declinded to match the offer sheet on Small Forward Kyle Anderson’s four-year thirty-seven million dollar offer from the Memphis Grizzlies.Anderson is likely to start for Memphis.

Stars of the Future (Basketball) (2018) #2:Zion Williamson (Duke Signee)

Welcome to the second installment of “Stars of the Future (Basketball) (2018)”.
Today we have Zion Williamson, the second ranked prospect in the country who I did a blog on my old NBA website. This is not going to be split up between his story and scouting report because this long paragraph explains everything.Zion is headed to Duke in the fall.

Story/Scouting Report:Why Zion Williamson is a future NBA star!Zion,as of now is the second ranked player in the 2018 class according to ESPN.Today I’m here with another player breakdown.Zion Williamson,is a 6’7 Power Forward, but will most likely have to play at the Small Forward position because he’s not tall enough to play at the four in the NBA.Before, ninth grade Zion was a Point Guard. As an eighth grader he was only five-nine,but he eventually grew to now six foot seven. In high school ball,in South Carolina,he scored a ton, making not so good South Carolina high school basketball teams worse.Zion won a State Championship, and averaged thirty-seven points as a Junior.Zion can shoot, which is always great, especially in the NBA now.Drake got a custom Zion Williamson jersey, which everyone knows that means that that kid can ball, but until last Summer know one saw the dunks, the blocks that went into the stands until the Summer of 2016.This was because of his lackluster high school opponents.Zion played in many camps, and balled out against older five-star players at many camps in the past two years.Zion, since then, has played for the South Carolina Supreme,an AAU team, and gone up against LaMelo Ball! This was one of he most hyped up games, and I’ve already blogged about it,and I put the link to it in the comments.Zion did amazing keeping his composure,as he scored thirty-one points, and added eight rebounds!I was even lucky to see Zion play,as well!Zion said that he doesn’t want to have trouble off the court,he wants to give back to the community, and he wants to win at least three rings.Winning three rings is tough, but giving back to his community, and having no trouble off the court is amazing!I definitely, now, after hearing this,am on the Zion Williamson hype train, and believe that he’s going to be balling for any college he goes to,and in the pros.Zion watches game film on LeBron James,Russell Westbrook, and Kawhi Leonard.Watching LeBron is great,(I don’t have to explain why),watching Russell is great so he can improve his in-game toughness, and demeanor, and watching Kawhi, the best defender in the NBA,will greatly improve his game, too.

Cam Reddish will be the third edition tomorrow.
