According to an official announcement from the Arkansas athletics department, “Arkansas has made a change in the leadership of the football program with the dismissal of Head Coach Sam Pittman by Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek.”

Pittman became the 34th head coach in December 2019. He was in his sixth season as head coach of the program. He led Arkansas to a 32-34 record while winning three bowl games during his tenure. The Razorbacks were 2-3 under his guidance entering a bye week before they return to action on at Tennessee on Oct. 11.

Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino “has been appointed as the Hogs’ interim head coach for the remainder of the season.” Petrino served previously as the Razorbacks’ head coach from 2008-11 before returning to the program as the offensive coordinator last season.
