The University of Connecticut (UConn) is expected to return to the Big East in basketball and other sports in 2020 per multiple reports. According to ESPN, nothing is offical but an announcement could be made at some point next week. The biggest question for the huskies, though, is about their football program. According to a source that told ESPN, it would be unlikely that UConn would keep just their football program in the American Athletic Conference. For football, UConn is expected to stay in the AAC for 2019 but move into a different conference or the Independents in 2020. UConn’s potential move was first reported by Digital Sports Desk.

Miami Heat Point Guard Goran Dragic is exercising his $19.2 million player option next season. Dragic averaged 13.7 points per game and almost five assists last season.

Memphis Grizzlies Center Jonas Valanciunas is declining is $17.6 million player option to become an unrestriced free agent. Valanciunas was traded midseason from the Toronto Raptors and wants to negotiate a long-term deal with Memphis, sources say.

Brooklyn Nets Forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson will become an unrestriced free agent after Brooklyn didn’t offer him the qualifying offer.

June 18
Former All-Star Center Al Horford has declined his $30.1 million player option to look become an unrestricted free agent and leave Boston to look for a three or four year deal elsewhere.

Sacramento Kings Forward Harrison Barnes declined his $25.1 million player option to become an unrestriced free agent.

Milwaukee Bucks Forward Khris Middelton is declining his $13 millon player option to become an unrestriced free agent. Middelton and the Bucks are working towards a long term deal for the All-Star Forward.

The New Orleans Pelicans have picked up the team option on Center Jahlil Okafor. Okafor was key in retaining, due to the end of the Center/Forward Anthony Davis era, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers almost a week ago.

The Atlanta Hawks received the fourth and fifty-seventh picks in tonight’s NBA Draft for New Orleans’ Pelicans Forward Solomon Hill, the eighth, seventeenth, and the thirty-fifth pick. The Atlanta Hawks are pursuing Virginia Forward De’Andre Hunter with this pick.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to trade Forward Dario Saric and the number eleven pick for Phoenix’s number six pick.

The Phoenix Suns have agreed to trade Forward TJ Warren and the number thirty-two over selection to the Indiana Pacers for cash considerations.

LaMelo Ball announced on “The Jump” that he would be heading to the Australia’s NBL and will be playing Illawarra Hawks. Ball was ranked number twenty-one in the 2019 ESPN 100. Ball said, “Australia really made sense to me” regarding his wanting of being the top pick of the 2020 NBA Draft. Because Ball played in Lithuania, his college eligibility was in question.

Toronto Raptors Head Coach Nick Nurse confirmed on Sunday he would be the new head coach of the Canadian national team starting with this summer’s world cup. Top talent in the NBA for this summer’s world cup for Team Canada are Nuggets Guard Jamal Murray, Cavaliers Center Tristan Thompson, Dallas Mavericks Forward Dwight Powell, and potential lottery pick (former Duke Guard) RJ Barrett.

2019 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard (Forward,Raptors) has a tough decision to make. Will he stay with the franchise that he has been with for one championship season or will he head home and play for the LA Clippers?

Toronto Raptors-If Owner Masai Ujiri leaves to take the job for the Washington Wizards, Kawhi is gone. If they are able to retain most of the pieces from the championship team this year (no key free agents this summer but veteran guard Kyle Lowry will be next summer). So, Kawhi has to think about a future with Toronto. Toronto may not be the ideal team to return to, but they did win a championship with just Leonard and a few other key pieces.

LA Clippers-Returning to southern California would have a ton of benefits for Kawhi, his career, and his brand. He would be able to advertise himself and prove that he is a top three player in the NBA. He would also have a shot to lead a similar to Toronto team (some key pieces, role players) to an NBA Championship in a wide open western conference. Returning home would also make him close to his family and give him a chance to spend time with them.

Prediction:LA Clippers because of him having a chance to return home and make the most of being able to advertise himself as one of the top players in the game today.

Pelicans Forward/Center Anthony Davis traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Guard Lonzo Ball, Forward/Guard Brandon Ingram, Guard Josh Hart, and three first round picks including in 2019’s fourth pick in the first round in the NBA draft this week. New Orleans GM David Griffin go the deal done without a third team involved and kept rising star Forward Kyle Kuzma.

Warriors Guard Klay Thompson was diagnosed with a left ACL tear in their game six loss to the Toronto Raptors. Thompson will likely be out for the entire 2019-2020 season like current teammate Kevin Durant.

The Washington Wizards are preparing to offer Toronto Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri that could come close to $10 million. Ujiri would also get part ownership that would also help oversea the NHL’s Washington Capitals. Ujiri made bold moves as the Raptors president to trade Guard DeMar DeRozan for Kawhi Leonard and fire 2018 Coach of the Year Dwane Casey and hire former g-league head coach Nick Nurse, which led to the 2019 NBA Championship. Wizards owner Ted Leonsis is expected to meet with Toronto management about a potential meet-up with Ujiri.

Toronto Raptors Forward Kawhi Leonard won the 2019 NBA Finals MVP by averaging almost thirty-points a game during the NBA Finals. Leonard won the Finals MVP in San Antonio with the Spurs as well as in Toronto. That is the first time one player has ever accomplished that feat.
