Predicting where ESPN’s College Gameday will go each week for the 2020 season

Today I predict where ESPN’s College Gameday show will go each week for their college preview show each week.

Week 0
Navy vs. Notre Dame (Dublin, Ireland)
If Gameday goes anywhere for Week 0, it will be in Dublin for one of the most historic games as they come. Notre Dame taking on Navy.

Week 1
USC vs. Alabama (Arlington,TX)
There aren’t very many top heavy match ups in week one so I chose the annual kickoff game in Arlington between two bluebloods, Alabama and USC.

Week 2
Texas at. LSU
Gameday went to Austin for this game a year ago and boy it was a treat. Why not make the trip down to Baton Rouge for this one?

Week 3
Georgia at. Alabama
I mean, who wouldn’t want to see these two SEC powerhouses play for the first time since 2007. Gameday would love to go to Tuscaloosa. Enough said.

Week 4
Wisconsin at. Michigan
Gameday went to this game many times during the 2010s and I’m not finding too much else that is worth watching. Obviously teams will rise up the rankings and fall down the rankings, but right now this game is the one to watch in week four.

Week 5
Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin (Green Bay,WI)
Yes, Wisconsin is getting Gameday for the second straight week. But at Lambeau Field, this game has to be the one that the Gameday gang goes to.

Week 6
Auburn at. Georgia
While LSU-Florida is also this week, Gameday has already been to Baton Rouge. While they have been to a Georgia game it was not in Athens, so it’s my pick for week six.

Week 7
Texas A&M at. Auburn
If Gameday doesn’t want to be in SEC country for consecutive weeks, they could go to Utah-Washington but Texas A&M seems to be the most talented its ever been under Jimbo Fisher and Gus Malzahn has Auburn as a likely pre-season top ten team.

Week 8
Ohio State at. Penn State
The likely battle for the Big Ten east title in 2020 never disappoints. It might just be Penn State’s year to take down the buckeyes you never know.

Week 9
Florida vs. Georgia (Jacksonville,FL)
This is usually the de facto championship in the SEC east. So, that’s why gameday goes to Jacksonville on Halloween.

Week 10
Alabama at. LSU
Despite Gameday going to many SEC games, how could they not go to Baton Rouge for a potential de facto SEC west championship yet again in 2020?

Week 11
Washington at. USC
If both teams are good enough and only if they are good enough Gameday could head to Los Angeles for the first time in awhile.

Week 12
Nebraska at. Wisconsin
The right pick for this week would be Texas A&M-Alabama or LSU-Auburn but with the amount of SEC games already attended by Gameday it’s hard to see them going down south again. So, Wisconsin-Nebraska is my pick.

Week 13
Auburn at. Alabama
Both teams will be in the thick of things in the SEC. Enough said.

NCAA approves extra year of elgibility for spring athletes

The NCAA has approved (with a unamimous vote) to give an extra year of eligibility for spring athletes. The NCAA’s decision will extend the elgibility of all spring sport student athletes, not just seniors who would have graduated after this season. They will allow schools to expand their rostrs beyond current scholarship limits to account for incoming recruits and seniors who would’ve graduated. The waivers will be applied to spring sports athletes only (people who are playing baseball, softball, tennis, golf, outdoor track and field, lacrosse, rowing, men’s volleyball, beach volleyball, and water polo). The waiver will not be allowed to be given to winter sports athletes like those in basketball, hockey, swimming and diving, and gymnastics.

What an SEC-Big 12 challenge in football would look like

What if we took a week during the college football season to have teams from the SEC play a team with the same standing a year ago in the Big 12 like in college basketball and have them play during a week of primarily non-conference games. Here’s what it would look like:

Oklahoma at. LSU
We are going to rotate who gets home field advantage but the reigning national champs have to start it with home field in a rematch of the CFP Semifinal.

Alabama at. Baylor
Will moving on from Matt Rhule do Baylor any favors? I don’t think so. Alabama would defintely be favored in this game.

Texas at. Florida
A match up of blue bloods in the swamp will be a defensive battle.

Auburn at. Oklahoma State
Auburn would have a great chance in this game to notch a key non-conference win in this one.

Kansas State at. Tennessee
This would be a fun game between two fairly new head coaches at the FBS level.

Texas A&M at. Iowa State
In a match up of high powered offenses, who would get the defensive stop down the stretch to break the game open.

West Virginia at. South Carolina
Two different offenses collide in an unusual match up.

Kentucky at. TCU
With a receiver at QB, Kentucky would have to find out a way to get the ball past a pretty good horned frogs defense.

Texas Tech at. Mississippi State
New Mississippi State Head Coach Mike Leach faces his former team, Texas Tech.

Ole Miss at. Kansas
Ole Miss is more talented than Kansas, but the rebels do face an old enemy in Kansas Head Coach Les Miles.

Left Out:Arkansas, Missouri, Vanderbilt

Conference Realignment (Part 3): What if the Big 12 disbands (and where would each school go?) (My Big 12 Realignment and what should happen in the next conference realignment)

What if the Big 12 disbands? What conference would each school end up?

Baylor
Baylor is in a small Texas market so they would have to tag along with the other Texas schools to the Pac-12 super conference, the Pac-16. I don’t think they will do that so I think that the American conference will come calling.Conference Pick:American

Iowa State
Iowa State would fit well in the Big 10 with a good basketball program and a football program on the rise. The Iowa-Iowa State rivalry would be huge, and within a few years they will have recruiting pipelines ranging from Nebraska east to the New York area. They could also go to the ACC or the American if Iowa doesn’t want them there.Conference Pick:Big 10

Kansas
Like Iowa State, the Big 10 would want basketball-heavy Kansas. While their football program needs work (a lot of WORK!) Kansas would come into the Big 10 ready to dominate in basketball.Conference Pick:Big 10

Kansas State
I don’t really know which conference to put Kansas State in so I’m just going to tag them along with Kansas.Conference Pick:Big 10

Oklahoma
When Texas wants to join the Pac-12 and the SEC comes calling… Conference Pick:SEC

Oklahoma State
The SEC may come calling if they join Oklahoma in a package deal which is probably want Oklahoma State wants.Conference Pick:SEC

TCU
TCU would love to join the SEC but I don’t think Texas A&M would want them in their conference.Joining the Pac-12 super conference would be the best bet for the Horned Frogs.Conference Pick:Pac-12

Texas
A sticking point for the crown jewel for the Big 12 is the Longhorn network.Between the Pac-12 and the SEC,the Pac-12 would want the Longhorn Network so…Conference Pick:Pac-12

Texas Tech
Tagging along with Texas and TCU,Texas Tech would join the Pac-12 super conference.Conference Pick:Pac-12

West Virginia
The odd team out in the Big 12 would join the ACC with built in rivalries with Pittsburgh,Virginia Tech,Syracuse, and Boston College are all built in rivalries from the old Big East and as their academics improve they would be a perfect fit.Conference Pick:ACC
