Top 2022 QB Ewers to skip senior year, enroll at Ohio State

As most expected, Quinn Ewers announced today via twitter that he would be skipping his senior year at Southlake Carrol (TX) HS. The top rated player according to 247sports is set to enroll at Ohio State and enroll for fall camp that begins tomorrow in Columbus. He is now the number one player in 247sports’ 2021 player rankings following his reclassification. The highly-touted QB committed to Ohio State on November 19 following a decommitment from Texas. He will be able to profit off his name, image and likeness as an Ohio State quarterback, something he would not have been able to do if he remained in high school due to Texas’ recent state legislation on NIL. Since being rated as one of the only 1.0000 in 247sports composite history and the highest rated since former Texas QB Vince Young, he and Southlake Caroll lost to fellow QB Cade Klubnik (no. 32 ranked player in the 2022 247sports composite) and Austin Westlake in the Texas State Championship last season. Klubnik also defeated Quinn Ewers at the Opening and Elite 11, taking the title from him there. But, even if he loses those competitions and games, it is hard to worry as an Ohio State fan. In addition to Ewers redshirt freshmen CJ Stroud and Jack Miller and true freshmen Kyle McCord make up one of the most talented QB rooms just based off of recruiting rankings in college football history. It is not expected that Ewers will see playing time let alone start in 2021, just to start the learning curve of becoming a college quarterback.

The recruitment of Arch Manning won’t just include Ole Miss and Tennessee

The newest Manning has come to the forefront of high school football. It is Arch Manning, the son of Cooper Manning, and the nephew of NFL greats Peyton and Eli Manning. You might think Manning’s recruitment will just include the likes of Ole Miss (where his father, uncle, and grandfather attended) and Tennessee (where his other uncle attended). But, today, I am here to tell you different.

Per 247Sports, Arch ranks as:
3.Arch Manning (#1QB) New Orleans,LA (Isidore Newman) Undecided in the rising junior 2023 class.

Visits he has/will take in June:

Clemson (June 4-6)
It is a perfect fit for Arch Manning. NFL quarterbacks have come through Clemson and have moved on to the pros almost flawlessly (Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence). Clemson may be viewed as an outsider especially because of their lack of tradition compared to other schools on Manning’s recruiting board but the way that head coach Dabo Swinney recruits at other positions as well should be an indicator that Clemson is a team that can land the young Manning.

SMU (June 11-13)
SMU may be even less than a traditional football power than Clemson, but Arch Manning wants to keep all of his options open and this proves it. That being said, Manning will likely not end up in Dallas. Good luck, Mustangs.

Texas (June 18-20)
Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian has been tasked with turning the Texas football program back into a powerhouse. Landing Arch Manning in 2023 would be a major statement. Having Manning would be a huge advantage, meaning it would take him away from quarterback whisperer and Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley, but the Longhorns have their work cut out for them.

Georgia (June 25-27)
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has had a ton of success on the recruiting trail during his time at Georgia. It started out and is continuing to be the defensive players he lands to be his meal ticket. But, in the past few classes Smart has landed former five-star and USC transfer JT Daniels, former five-star Carson Beck, and former five-star Brock Vandagriff. But, landing Manning would be more than huge, especially considering beating out legacy programs Ole Miss and Tennessee not to mention SEC powerhouses Alabama, (hometown) LSU and many other big programs.

Manning, having already looked at LSU and Ole Miss, is looking to visit Alabama, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, USC, and Virginia soon.
