Top 6 entering Week 13 (My rankings)
1.LSU 9-0 (6-0) Next Week:Arkansas
2.Ohio State 10-0 (7-0) Next Week:Penn State
3.Clemson 11-0 (8-0) Next Week:Bye
4.Georgia 9-1 (6-1) Next Week:Texas A&M
Outside Looking In
5.Oregon 9-1 (7-0) Next Week:at.Arizona State
6.Alabama 9-1 (6-1) Next Week:Western Carolina

Games that will impact CFP in Week 13 (Rankings are from CFP Poll)
Western Carolina at. 5.Alabama
Despite the devastating loss of Tua Tagovailoa, Nick Saban and his troops should have no problem with Mac Jones at QB versus Western Carolina. Prediction:Alabama 49, Western Carolina 14

8.Penn State at. 2.Ohio State
The winner of this game will celitify their college football playoff hopes and put themselves as the frontrunner for the Big Ten East champion. Now, if Penn State loses they will be out of the CFP race but a win should jolt them right back into the picture for a top four ranking next Tuesday. Ohio State will have their biggest test this season versus the Nittany Lions, and are lucky to have star Defensive End Chase Young back into the lineup after his two game suspension. Prediction:Ohio State 35, Penn State 24

Texas A&M at. 4.Georgia
This will be another test for Georgia, the third week in a row they will face a good opponent. This is the first time they will have a game in this three game stretch at home. Texas A&M might compete in the first half, but Georgia should roll for a fourth consecutive win. Prediction:Georgia 31, Texas A&M 20

Texas at. 14.Baylor
After a devastating loss to Oklahoma a week ago, the Bears will play a team that would love to spoil their season. While Texas hasn’t been great this season, you should expect them ready to play in Waco. Prediction:Baylor 24, Texas 21

6.Oregon at. Arizona State
Oregon heads to Tempe with a lose and your out mentality in the CFP race. A win here would almost guarantee that they will come to Los Angeles for the Pac-12 Championship with a game versus bottom-dweller Oregon State during Thanksgiving weekend. This is definitely a trap game for Oregon, but they should win. Prediction:Oregon 34, Arizona State 24

TCU at. 8.Oklahoma
After defeating Baylor a week ago, Oklahoma just has to handle their next two opponents and will have one loss headed into the Big 12 Championship. Prediction:Oklahoma 52, TCU 42

7.Utah at. Arizona
Utah should run all over Arizona to get a win. Prediction:Utah 38, Arizona 10

ACC Big 12 Big Ten College Football Pac-12 SEC

Who can make the CFP in each Power 5 Conference? (Post Week 12 Installment)

A few weeks ago I did this very post. Now, let’s see who is left in the race to land a college football playoff spot from each power five spot.

Clemson (11-0)
Since the scare against North Carolina, the ACC’s only hope to make the CFP once again has not looked back, destroying all of their opponents since, including a 52-3 drubbing of now seven and three Wake Forest. All Clemson has to do now is beat South Carolina following a bye next Saturday, and beat the ACC’s Coastal winner in Charlotte to make the CFP.

Big 12
Oklahoma (9-1)
Oklahoma came back from being down 28-3 to then undefeated Baylor to beat the Bears 34-31 in the final two minutes. Oklahoma has to get some help, though, from other conference champions and hope that one of them has two losses.

Baylor (9-1)
Baylor’s undefeated season ended at the hands of a loss to Oklahoma. Now, they have to beat both Texas and Kansas, then they have to beat Oklahoma in a rematch. Like, Oklahoma, they would have to get some help.

Big Ten
Ohio State (10-0)
Ohio State just has to win and they’re in.

Penn State (9-1)
Penn State has a golden opportunity to prove to the committee that they’re worthy of a spot with a showdown against Ohio State next Saturday. A win there would put them in the prime position to win the Big Ten East and put them in the Big Ten Championship for a rematch versus Minnesota, who would be there only loss.

Minnesota (9-1)
Minnesota’s undefeated season ended in Kinnick Stadium versus Iowa yesterday. If they win out they will be in the Big Ten Championship. A win there would almost definitely put them in the CFP.

Oregon (9-1)
Winning out, inculding a Pac-12 championship, will put the ducks in the best position to get into the CFP.

Utah (9-1)
Like Oregon, winning out, inculding a Pac-12 championship, will put the ducks in the best position to get into the CFP.

LSU (10-0)
A win over Alabama proved that LSU was CFP ready. To finish the season, they play rivals Arkansas and Texas A&M. Struggling Arkansas won’t be a challenge. But something tells me Texas A&M won’t be easy for LSU. Even if LSU loses one of these games, winning in Atlanta should put them back into the CFP.

Georgia (9-1)
After defeating Auburn, Georgia has locked up the SEC East for the third consecutive season. Georgia plays host to Texas A&M and plays Georgia Tech. Georgia has to win both plus the SEC Championship to get into the CFP.

Alabama (9-1)
A loss to LSU a week ago plus losing QB Tua Tagovailoa for the season yesterday for the season means that Alabama will need some help to get into the CFP this season. Backup QB Mac Jones should have no problems with Western Carolina next week, but a trip to Jourdan-Hare will not be easy. Something tells me Alabama will not be in the CFP for the first time ever in 2019.

cbhsports College Football Week 12 Preview

Top 6 entering Week 12 (My rankings)
1.LSU 8-0 (5-0) Next Week:at.Ole Miss
2.Ohio State 9-0 (6-0) Next Week:at.Rutgers
3.Clemson 10-0 (7-0) Next Week:Wake Forest

5.Georgia 8-1 (5-1) Next Week:at.Auburn
6.Oregon 8-1 (6-0) Next Week:Arizona

Games that will impact CFP in Week 12 (Rankings are from CFP Poll)
5.Alabama at. Mississipi State
Alabama has to win to have a chance at returning to the College Football Playoff. I expect Nick Saban’s team to fire on all cylinders in Starkville and give Mississippi State no chance entering the fourth quarter. Prediction:Alabama 49, Mississippi State 17

2.Ohio State at. Rutgers
Ohio State showed a week ago versus Maryland that there was going to be no problem for them without star Defensive End Chase Young. With Young only suspeneded one game more for NCAA elgibility issues, Ohio State should easily beat Rutgers. Prediction:Ohio State 56, Rutgers 10

Wake Forest at. 3.Clemson
Wrapping up the ACC Atlantic just means for a bigger target on Clemson’s back. A tough challenge for Clemson just means that Clemson should play better. I have Clemson winning a tough game versus the Demon Deacons. Prediction:Clemson 38, Wake Forest 27

4.Georgia at. 12.Auburn
QB Jake Fromm and Georgia have had trouble with Auburn on the plains in the past, but Georgia has to win to stay in the playoff race. Georgia wins in an ugly game. Prediction:Georgia 16, Auburn 9

8.Minnesota at. 20.Iowa
Iowa has been eliminated from the Big Ten West picture but a game at home versus the division leaders means for a great game. I think Iowa has a first half lead but PJ Fleck’s Golden Gophers make a comeback to win. Prediction:Minnesota 33, Iowa 28

1.LSU at. Ole Miss
After LSU’s glorius win over then number three ranked Alabama, they will have to keep winning to stay in the driver’s seat in the SEC West. LSU wins and they don’t have much trouble doing it. Prediction:LSU 49, Ole Miss 24

10.Oklahoma at. 13.Baylor
Whoever wins this game will be in the driver’s seat in the Big 12 and the most likely to land a playoff spot. Despite Oklahoma’s loss, I have them beating Baylor. Prediction:Oklahoma 38, Baylor 17

Arkansas Head Coach Chad Morris fired

After a 4-18 record through almost two seasons, Arkansas was done with Head Football Coach Chad Morris. During his tenure, he lost eight of twenty two games by thirty or more points including losses to Colorado State (2018,28-21), San Jose State (2019,31-24), and the final straw versus Western Kentucky (2019,45-19). Arkansas Tight Ends/Special Teams Coordinator Barry Lunney will serve as the interim coach while the coaching search is in process. I wish Coach Morris the best with the future of his family and finding a new job. Florida State Head Coach Willie Taggart was fired a week ago, and Chris Ash was let go by Rutgers.
