We have to wait until March 14,2021…

It was confirmed that both the 2020 men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament Brackets will not be released this “Selection Sunday” March 15,2020. The NCAA said that while the men’s committee started working on a bracket, the women’s committee had not started working to complete a tournament bracket out. They also stated that the bracket would not be up to its full standard due to the cancellations of all of the major conference tournaments. We will have to wait until Sunday March 14,2021 to have our next Selection Sunday. And before that we will get the fifth edition of the “bracket preview” on CBS, five Sundays before the sixty-eight are selected with the top sixteen teams announced in the committees eyes on February 7,2021.

Looking at each conference’s teams who have a shot at the top seed line

Here are the teams with a chance at a one seed by conference entering the weekend of February 28-March 1. Just a note that not all conferences have a chance to get a one seed so they won’t all be listed. All bracketology references will be referring to Joe Lunardi’s latest ESPN Bracketology on February 28,2020.

Atlantic-10
Looking at the top of the Atlantic-10 Standings
1.Dayton 27-2 (16-0)
2.Rhode Island 20-7 (12-3)

Dayton
Led by potential player of the year Obi Toppin, the Flyers have to win out to even have a chance on the one line. With even a single loss, Dayton not be on the one line but likely as a three seed. Dayton is seeded on the two line currently by most bracketologists.

ACC
Looking at the top of the ACC Standings
1.Florida State 24-4 (14-3)
2.Louisville 23-6 (14-4)
3.Duke 23-5 (13-4)

Florida State
The number six ranked team in the AP Polls last Monday, strengthened their case for a top seed with a comeback win over number eleven ranked Louisville who Joe Lunardi had as a three seed entering the week. With a loss by current four overall seed San Diego State, Florida State can make a move onto the top line depending on what happens with the lone two seed ahead of them in Maryland.

Duke
Duke has had a rough February discluding their dominant win over Virginia Tech and a game that they shouldn’t have won at the buzzer against North Carolina. Duke has lost to Wake Forest and NC State, two teams that are on or around the NCAA Tournament bubble. Duke needs to heat up because if they want to play in New York and the east region, they need to start winning some games.

Louisville
With a loss to Florida State on Monday, Louisville is putting themselves in a bad position. But like the other two contending ACC squads, a strong finish to the regular season and an ACC Tournament Championship would give them a good chance at one of the top three seed lines.

Big 12
Looking at the top of the Big 12 Standings
1.Baylor 25-2 (14-1)
1.Kansas 25-3 (14-1)
3.Texas Tech 18-10 (9-6)

Kansas
The top overall seed according to ESPN, Kansas has to hope that Baylor loses so that they can easily land the top seed in the Big 12 Tournament. But the only thing that matters is the likely match up between them and the bears in the conference tournament championship. That game will likely determine the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Baylor
After the loss to Kansas, ESPN has dropped Baylor from the top overall seed line to the number two overall seed line. But the only thing that matters is the likely match up between them and the jayhawks in the conference tournament championship. That game will likely determine the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Big East
Looking at the top of the Big Ten Standings
1.Seton Hall 20-7 (12-3)
2.Creighton 22-6 (11-4)
2.Villanova 22-6 (11-4)

Seton Hall
Seton Hall is the lone team in the Big East with a mostly clear path to get to the top line. They have to hope many teams falter on the top two lines and they have to win out and then win the Big East Tournament title.

Creighton and Villanova
Both teams have to pray that red hot Seton Hall loses to get the top seed in the Big East. Both teams don’t have great shots on the one seed line, though.

Big Ten
Looking at the top of the Big Ten Standings
1.Maryland 23-5 (13-4)
2.Illinois 19-9 (11-6)
2.Wisconsin 18-10 (11-6)
2.Penn State 21-7 (11-6)
2.Michigan State 19-9 (11-6)

Maryland
With a win over Michigan State tonight, Maryland clinches no less than a share of the Big Ten title, their first since 2002. But with a Big Ten Tournament Title, they have a real shot of getting to the one line.

Mountain West
Looking at the top of the Mountain West Standings
1.San Diego State 27-1 (16-1)
2.Utah State 23-7 (12-5)
2.Nevada 19-10 (12-5)

San Diego State
Despite their first loss of the season a week ago, they remained a one seed. One more loss, though, a major conference team could steal it from them.

SEC
Looking at the top of the SEC Standings
1.Kentucky 23-5 (13-2)
2.Auburn 24-4 (11-4)
3.LSU 19-9 (10-5)

Kentucky
With a win over Auburn today, Kentucky would an SEC regular season title. A loss at home versus the tigers today, would totally take them out of the picture to be on one of those top two seed lines.

Auburn
With a win over Kentucky and an SEC Tournament championship, this team has a shot at a two seed.

WCC
Looking at the top of the WCC Standings
1.Gonzaga 28-2 (14-1)
2.BYU 23-7 (12-3)

Gonzaga
Despite the loss to BYU last Saturday, Gonzaga controls their destiny in getting a top seed.

Junior Point Guard Lander commits to Indiana, possible to reclassify

Lander is currently a junior but the option of reclassifying is not out of the question. Lander said “I’m thinking about going 2020 very strongly but I’m not for sure yet” in an article reported by espn. Lander is currently ranked number twelve overall in the junior rankings in the href=”http://www.espn.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/playerrankings/_/class/2021/order/true”>2021 ESPN 60.

Forward Shareef O’Neal announces move to LSU

Like father like son. Former UCLA Forward Shareef O’Neal is transferring to his dad’s alma mater, LSU. Shareef will play for his father, Shaq’s old school LSU. In an ESPN article, Shareef said that the death of his father’s old teammate, Kobe Bryant, made “him focus more.” This is after Shareef was diagnosed with “a right anomalous coronary artery and undergoing open-heart surgery to correct the issue” thus missing his first season on campus in Los Angeles. O’Neal was averaging over two points and almost three rebounds per game before his move. Shareef was ranked as the no. 32 prospect in the 2018 ESPN 100.

Conference Realignment (Part 3): What if the Big 12 disbands (and where would each school go?) (My Big 12 Realignment and what should happen in the next conference realignment)

What if the Big 12 disbands? What conference would each school end up?

Baylor
Baylor is in a small Texas market so they would have to tag along with the other Texas schools to the Pac-12 super conference, the Pac-16. I don’t think they will do that so I think that the American conference will come calling.Conference Pick:American

Iowa State
Iowa State would fit well in the Big 10 with a good basketball program and a football program on the rise. The Iowa-Iowa State rivalry would be huge, and within a few years they will have recruiting pipelines ranging from Nebraska east to the New York area. They could also go to the ACC or the American if Iowa doesn’t want them there.Conference Pick:Big 10

Kansas
Like Iowa State, the Big 10 would want basketball-heavy Kansas. While their football program needs work (a lot of WORK!) Kansas would come into the Big 10 ready to dominate in basketball.Conference Pick:Big 10

Kansas State
I don’t really know which conference to put Kansas State in so I’m just going to tag them along with Kansas.Conference Pick:Big 10

Oklahoma
When Texas wants to join the Pac-12 and the SEC comes calling… Conference Pick:SEC

Oklahoma State
The SEC may come calling if they join Oklahoma in a package deal which is probably want Oklahoma State wants.Conference Pick:SEC

TCU
TCU would love to join the SEC but I don’t think Texas A&M would want them in their conference.Joining the Pac-12 super conference would be the best bet for the Horned Frogs.Conference Pick:Pac-12

Texas
A sticking point for the crown jewel for the Big 12 is the Longhorn network.Between the Pac-12 and the SEC,the Pac-12 would want the Longhorn Network so…Conference Pick:Pac-12

Texas Tech
Tagging along with Texas and TCU,Texas Tech would join the Pac-12 super conference.Conference Pick:Pac-12

West Virginia
The odd team out in the Big 12 would join the ACC with built in rivalries with Pittsburgh,Virginia Tech,Syracuse, and Boston College are all built in rivalries from the old Big East and as their academics improve they would be a perfect fit.Conference Pick:ACC

Why LaMelo Ball won’t last in college

Since LaMelo Ball has started attending and playing basketball at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio it got me thinking.

Wherever (if he even does) LaMelo goes to college,he won’t last long. For the simple reason being that he plays for himself, he’s not a team player, and just wants the money. In my honest opinion, he should take the G-League route and will end up getting paid until (or if) he’s able to get into the actual NBA.Those are all of my thoughts on that,so…

“iwstbbacs” (Carter) is signing out.

Is Arkansas in the wrong conference? Immediate reaction to New York Times’s article

I got this article from someone I cannot name and are my hogs in the wrong conference. They have had just one top ten finish since joining the conference in 1991 with South Carolina, and since then has squandered time with Bret Bielema. While it would be easier in the Big 12, Arkansas get seven million dollars a year in the always dominant in football and baseball SEC. I mean at this point West Virginia and Texas are in the same conference but Texas A&M and Texas don’t meet once. Colorado’s move to the Pac-12 is difficult to examine. Former Arkansas player and Ole Miss head football coach Houston Nutt said “You’ve got to be better at recruiting and evaluating.” Which I mean in the backyards of powers Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and LSU is really easy, Arkansas with former Texas high school and SMU Head Coach Chad Morris goes into the lone star state with just one game a year in Texas, in Arlington against old Southwest rival Texas A&M who’ve they have lost to,what six times in a row now? While analysts have talked about that it is great that Arkansas, Rutgers, Boston College, and Louisville (and Pitt,West Virginia, Syracuse and others) that they are in power five conferences,I think those programs would beg to differ.

Conference Realignment (Part 1): Making the Big 12 a super conference

What if I was a college football god? What if I could make the next moves in conference realignment? We will start with the Big 12 edition, since they need the most of the power five conferences.

In the next big time of conference realignment, the Big 12 will need to convince their biggest money makers,Texas and Oklahoma to stay. But since I’m a college football god,I make them stay.Let’s say that West Virginia’s academics improve and they bolt for the ACC (or the Big 10 if that doesn’t work out),and Iowa State goes to the Big 10.Now the Big 12 wants four schools to join the conference.I would add Memphis,Houston,Tulsa (any other sports than basketball),Wichita State (basketball only), from the American and BYU from the Independents. While Tulsa is decent at basketball,Wichita State would be a huge addition in the sport.Tulsa would go back to the American for basketball. Find out who the American and the Indepedents would replace for Houston, Memphis, Tulsa, and BYU. BYU would be the new West Virginia, having to travel the most. Here would be the divisions:

South- Baylor, Houston, Memphis, Texas, TCU, Texas Tech
North- BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State ,Tulsa (Any other sport than basketball), Wichita State (Basketball only member)
